Love.  There could be a million definitions for this feeling. Regarding love, Wikipedia says, “It can refer to an emotion of a strong attraction and personal attachment.” But, a cold dictionary definition can never explain a whole range of emotions that we experience. What is actually hiding behind those words?

“You know you love someone when you’re willing to skip Pancheros to hang out with them,” said Junior Bailey Danner.

“To love is to place someone else’s happiness and well-being ahead of your own,” said Jill Harsh, guidance counselor secretary.

“Love is knowing you would live without someone, and not wanting to,” said Mckenzie Boes, Government student teacher.

Senior Sean Lemke said, “Loving someone is knowing them to the furthest extent and having them know you to the same length.”

“For me love is finding someone that you would be perfectly happy spending the rest of your life with,” said Senior Mason Malone.

“It means accepting someone else no matter who they are,” said Sarah Boesen, science teacher.

“Love is knowing that you are cared for,” said Junior Kenzi Long.

Junior Kirsten Abbas said, “Love is seeing galaxies in someone’s eyes on their worst day.”

“When I think about love, I think of something warm and comfy,” said Beth Knipper, English teacher.  “Like that old sweatshirt you’ve had forever; it looks gross, but it is always there for you and immediately makes you feel better about everything in the world.”

Junior Emma Riker said, “Love is putting another person before yourself. It means doing what’s best for the other person, no matter what it means for you.”

“When you give up your favorite things because that person doesn’t like them,” Industrial Arts teacher Alex Reams said.

“When you see someone’s flaws as perfections,” said Jillian Hofmann, sophomore.

“Giving our own world to someone else,”  said Jacob Kuhn, junior.

To me, love is when you can travel in the car for hours together without actually speaking to each other, and the feeling of comfort comes just from sitting next to someone. Love is when you are on the same wave and there is no such thing for you as an awkward silence, because you don’t necessarily need words. It’s when you feel irrationally happy just of spelling this person’s name. Love is when you care and when you are cared.

And what does the word “love” mean for you?.. It’s never late to find out?

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day!
