May Student of the Month: Nathan Wedemeyer

Nathan Wedemeyer, son of Mike and Jill Wedemeyer, is the Student of the Month for May. He has a GPA of approximately 3.7.

Wedemeyer’s favorite classes of high school have been English 2 because of Ms. Aukes, band because it’s different from regular classes, and his online classes because he gets to leave school for them.

Wedemeyer is involved in band, mock trial, academic decathlon, speech, play, soccer and student council. He has learned time management skills and how to balance his activities. He also volunteers at Meals for the Heartland and vacation bible school.

He plans to attend the University of Iowa and will most likely major in something in the medical field. Wedemeyer’s advice to others about life is to not take anything too seriously.

Wedemeyer is honored to be the student of the month, and believes he was chosen because someone put in a good word for him.

In recognition of Wedemeyer’s achievements, Racoon Valley Bank is donating $100 to the ADM Scholarship Foundation.

May People of the Month

Rhyan Miller is the April student of the month. Miller is the daughter of Charity and Rich Miller, and has maintained a 3.925 GPA. Her three favorite classes in high school have been drama as literature, Prostart II, and news journalism. Miller participates in cross country, theater, individual and large group speech, the prostart team, student council, NHS, silver cord, and track. She feels that her experiences in those activities have made her more extroverted, sharing that she is "not afraid of [her] own voice anymore." Miller plans to attend Winona State University to major in psychology and minor in political science. Her advice to others is to "Fake it 'till you make it." She feels she was selected as student of the month due to her increased active presence in the classroom. She is also thankful for the good parking spot. In honor of her achievements, Raccoon Valley Bank has donated $100 to the ADM Scholarship Foundation.

Aiden Lippencott is the son of Erica and Delaun Lippencott. He has a 3.9 GPA and his favorite classes are Athletic Enhancement, Financial Literacy, and Band. He says he enjoys Athletic Enhancement as it gives him a break from learning in a classroom. Lippencott is involved in track and field, and band. Through these he has learned how to be a leader and work as a team. Lippencott volunteers once a month at his church, and he is planning to attend Evangel University and major in business analytics. When asked what advice he would give to others about success in school and in life he said “I’d say learn how to work with people, it really helps because you can have them help you, and you can help them and it's just good to know how to talk to and work with people.” When asked what being student of the month means to him and he said that it shows his hard work and leadership is paying off. In honor of his achievements Racoon Valley Bank is donating $100 to the ADM Scholarship Foundation.

The Student of the Month in November in Brenna Seidl. Her parents are Chris and Jacque Seidl. She has a 3.89 GPA. Seidl’s favorite three classes from high school are Intro to Ed, because it matches with what she wants to do after high school; English III, because she likes the Great Gatsby; and Culinary because it was really fun. She is involved in Cross Country, Soccer, Speech, NHS, Humanitarian Chord and Student Council. These activities have taught her leadership, and helped her grow connections with people she wasn’t initially friends with. Seidl also volunteers at her church. Next fall, Seidl plans to attend UNI and major in elementary education. Her advice to others about how to succeed in school and life is to be kind—you never know what other people are going through.

Being named Student of the Month is a big honor to Seidl. She feels recognized for all the work she’s put into the school for the past four years. She thinks she’s been recognised because of all the work she’s put into the school through student council, and because she holds a lot of leadership positions and is involved in a diverse group of activities. In honor of her achievements, Raccoon Valley Bank has donated $100 to the ADM Scholarship Foundation.
