Volunteer Opportunities
There are many reasons to volunteer, for humanitarian cord, senior requirements, college applications, and for fun. But, sometimes it is hard to find a place to volunteer at. Here is a list of a few places to volunteer your time at.
Aheinz 57. Aheinz57 is a local dog rescue in DeSoto. You can volunteer here to help walk dogs, bath dogs, clean or even become a foster home. People under the age of 16 have to have a parent with them when they volunteer.
Adel Public Library. The Adel Public Library is always looking for volunteers to help shelve books, run youth programs or sit at the front desk. Located in the heart of Adel it is close to the school and could be a great after-school opportunity for those who can’t yet drive.
Mosaic Haven. Mosaic haven is looking for volunteers during the summer to be a camp counselor for teens with special needs. This opportunity requires you to be good at communication and to be patient. For more information talk to Mrs. Smith.
Youth Programs. The youth sports programs are often looking for volunteers to be refs, run the clock or work at the concessions stand. If you know about sports rules and scorekeeping this could be a great opportunity for you.
These are just a few ideas, for more opportunities sign up for the volunteer club remind. Also, read the announcements for opportunities.
Your donation will support the student journalists of Adel DeSoto Minburn High School. Your contribution will allow us to purchase equipment, attend conferences, and cover our annual website hosting costs.

![Rhyan Miller is the April student of the month. Miller is the daughter of Charity and Rich Miller, and has maintained a 3.925 GPA. Her three favorite classes in high school have been drama as literature, Prostart II, and news journalism. Miller participates in cross country, theater, individual and large group speech, the prostart team, student council, NHS, silver cord, and track. She feels that her experiences in those activities have made her more extroverted, sharing that she is "not afraid of [her] own voice anymore." Miller plans to attend Winona State University to major in psychology and minor in political science. Her advice to others is to "Fake it 'till you make it." She feels she was selected as student of the month due to her increased active presence in the classroom. She is also thankful for the good parking spot. In honor of her achievements, Raccoon Valley Bank has donated $100 to the ADM Scholarship Foundation.](https://blackandredgister.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/20260427_104331-600x450.jpg)
