Hyper Energy Bar located in Waukee.

The new school year is back in full swing and you might be starting to feel the stress and assignments piling up. Don’t worry, Hyper Energy is open and ready to get you through the lectures and all the late night study sessions to come. Located behind the IHOP in Waukee on Alice’s Road, Hyper Energy Bar is the first of its kind to open in the Des Moines metro area. While you might be thinking, the last thing Waukee needs is another coffee shop, Hyper is unlike any of those other basic coffee bars. Their signature drink isn’t a latte or frappuccino, but instead, an energy drink. They start with their unique energy base and add in a variety of flavored syrups. If you’re not an energy drink junkie, Hyper also offers a wide array of coffee drinks (including new fall flavors available for a limited time!) as well as real fruit smoothies.
Another special characteristic of Hyper is the building itself. You will notice upon arrival that the building itself is really small. This is because Hyper does not offer indoor seating or ordering, instead they have not only one but two drive thru window lines. To guarantee fast service and get you hyped up quickly, this unique building was built to allow two lines of cars to flow through all the customers.
With a choice between around 15 different flavor combinations for your energy drink, the decision can be tough. To help you get the best drink experience some fellow classmates give their reviews on the new drink trend. Senior Callie Hazel tried the Kinetic Coconut drink which contains blue raspberry and coconut flavored syrups. “It was pretty good, not super potent or coconut heavy, which is good because I’m not a huge coconut fan, but I loved the blue razz flavor.” Hazel rates her drink a 8.5 out of 10. In honor of the Halloween season Hyper has a new flavor combination, “Vampires Blood” which features peach, pineapple, and wild berry flavored syrups. Senior Bri Stine gave this drink a whirl and was very happy with it, rating it a 10 out of 10.
If you are looking for something new to try and want to step out of the box a little bit, go out and try an energy drink from Hyper Energy Bar and see for yourself what all the hype is about.
