Emily Hlas is the Student of the Month for September. She is the daughter of Christina and Jerry Hlas. Emily has a 4.o GPA and her favorite classes are art, band, and math. When Emily isn’t class, she likes to be involved in band, Jazz Band, cross country, softball, FCA, NHS, Student Council, and Art Club. She loves to stay involved in all these activities because she gains leadership and social skills.

When Emily is outside of school, she volunteers at Adel Acres, Blitz for her church, and the school blood drive.

Emily is still deciding on where she wants to go to college, but she is considering to major in music, math, or graphic design.

Student of the Month is a way to be honored and Emily is grateful to be granted this award. “It gives me encouragement about how I am doing in school and what I am supposed to be doing,” she said.

Emily’s advice to other high school students is to “Have a balanced life, care about school work but make sure to have fun! Also be sure to cut yourself some slack.”

In honor in Emily Hlas’s achievements, Raccoon Valley Bank has donated $100 to the ADM Scholarship Foundation.
