Sydney Canney- April Girl’s Soccer Player of the Month

Sydney Canney has been nominated for April Soccer Player of the Month by Coach Gaffney.

Sydney has been playing since kindergarten, now as a senior, she is continuing her soccer career at Central College playing left back defense. When asked why she started playing she says, “My dad coached soccer and all of my friends did it.”

Reflecting on why she loves the sport she plays Canney describes, “It’s not just a one-person sport, you have to connect with the whole team for it to work. Also how aggressive it is and versatile it can be.”

Canney believes she has been nominated and honored for Athlete of the Month due to her leadership skills toward underclassmen while demonstrating positivity for the whole team to look up to.

“I work hard at what I do and have put in lots of effort over the past years,” she says.

In recognition of her achievements, Adel Health Mart has donated $100 to the ADM Scholarship Foundation.
