On Sunday, more records were broken in one game than ever before! With the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots going helmet to helmet, the game started off showing Atlanta to win, yet New England pulled out with the win. Not only did the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history occur, and the only overtime the Super Bowl had seen, individual records were broken and tied. Over thirty records were broken or tied at Super Bowl 51.

Last night Super Bowl 51 brought about more than just a win for the New England Patriots, but a lesson on top of the many records broken.

Atlanta Falcons won the opening coin toss and scored the first points of the game, dominating both offensively and defensively. Rounding off the score to 21-0, many people expected the game to be over and many actually stopped watching.

Right before the end of the first half the Patriots were able to squeeze in a field goal and get some points on the board. The half time score was 21-3.

The half time talk must have been very inspiring because the second half showed a lot of heart by the Patriots. The Patriots held the Falcons to only 7 points in the second half, but New England excelled and put up an outstanding fight.

With two 2-point conversions, the Patriots tied the game with only seconds remaining.

The game goes into overtime, and the Patriots luck does not run out with the coin toss. Patriots received the ball first and was able to score on their first run, not giving the Falcons even one chance.

New England came back, winning 34-28.

Below are all the records either tied, or new ones set, by just this one Super Bowl; Super Bowl 51.

After the game there was a lot of ‘thanks’ to give out and the Patriots head coach did just that. “There was a lot of great situational football, adjustments and our staff just kept coaching,” said Bill Belichick. “We just kept trying to find a little crack in the armor and keep plugging away.”
