New Art in Adel

Placed right below the Fiesta Mexican Restaurant sign is a new mural in downtown Adel.

Adel’s newest addition is a sight to see. This new mural is full of everything that makes the Adel community special. Placed right outside of the newly located Fiesta Mexican Restaurant, this mural has a variety of pictures taken over the past few years that show the variety of activities and sights this small town has to offer.

The center of this mural is none other than an icon throughout the state of Iowa and a proud Adel graduate, Nile Kinnick. Kinnick graduated from Adel and went on to play football at the University of Iowa. He made his mark by winning the Heisman Trophy and has been remembered by this town and the whole state ever since. The different pictures on the mural show things like the aquatic center, the lit-up bridge, Island Park, and plenty more. One thing that this crew made sure to include in this mural was the youth. This mural shows the tiger statue, youth sports, high school sports, high school fine arts, and a joyful picture of last year’s softball team running to grab the state banner after qualifying last July.

I spoke with one of Fiesta’s managers to hear her thoughts on the mural right outside the restaurant. She said, “I think it’s lovely. It’s gorgeous art that shows great features in this town and we are honored that it is right here with us.”
