On February 12, ADM’s TSA team traveled to Panorama to compete. Although the team did not place at their Boone meet, they did very well at Panorama.

Both Tech Bowl teams placed, ADMPork placing 2nd and ADMBeef taking 4th. Tech Bowl competitions consist of six questions followed by one bonus question. These questions are random knowledge of technology, science, math and engineering. The students listen to someone read off each question followed by four answer options. Once they have heard all answers or believe they know the answer, they may press their buzzer and state the answer they would like to submit. If they are correct, their team receives 10 points, but if it is incorrect their team has 5 points subtracted. Bonus questions are worth a total of 15 points, and have no point subtraction if a team answers incorrectly.EditedTSA1

ADM’s TSA team also placed 3rd in RC car racing. For RC racing, a team builds a remote controlled car to be raced against those of other schools. The course they must race can consist of ramps, carpet hills, bridges, obstacles and tunnels. The object of the competition is to complete as many laps of the course as possible in the given time limit.

Problem Solving had two teams representing ADM last Friday, whose results are still not submitted. The teams had the challenge of building a structure form a varieties of papers and tapes that must sustain a golf ball at the highest level they could. This is an accurate representation of what the teams must do at meets. They are given various tasks and challenges that they must complete to the best of their abilities with the given materials.

TSA is a club for anyone interested in technology or maths, building or problem solving. The team is suffering a severe lack of female members, but could use more members of any gender. If you are at all interested in being a member of TSA, contact Robin West for further information.
