Howard Finkel was a well-known announcer for Wrestling, specifically the WWE. Finkel has been a ring announcer since 1977, making him the World Wide Wrestling Federations longest-tenured employee.

Howard was pronounced dead on April 16, 2020, at the age of 69. The cause of his death is unknown at this time but, Finkel suffered from a stroke in 2018, which left him in poor health for the remainder of his life.

Howard was a man of many accomplishments and awards. In 2009, he was inducted into the WWE hall of fame.

Finkel had a very distinctive voice and was recognized and loved by many, the crowd would cheer for his announcements. Finkel had come up with names for wrestlers and events, such as “Wrestle Mania” and the “Dragon” nickname for Ricky Steamboat.

Since the death of the Great Howard Finkel, many wrestling superstars have spoken out about the impact he has made on the wrestling world. “Howard had a class and dignity about him when he was doing his job. His booming voice and credibility helped myself and countless others find an identity in each of our own personal wrestling journeys. I was caught off guard when I saw him for the last time at MSG. Clearly, he was not doing well. As we passed by each other on our way out I told him I loved him. Everybody loved Howard. And that’s the bottom line,” wrote Steve Austin, known as Stone Cold Steve Austine in the ring.

Finkel has been and through his death will continue to have a major impact on the wrestling world.
