Senior

This year we have many volleyball players ready for the season ahead. One of them being Senior, Montanna Popp, who has played volleyball since age 10. What made her interested in volleyball would be because both of her older sisters played volleyball and loved it. Popp is one of the team’s setters.

When asked how the season is going she said that the team is playing really well together, and that the team’s goal along with her personal goal for the 2015-2016 season is to make it to state and to come together as a team. Popp is not interested in pursuing volleyball as a career, she enjoys softball and is interested in pursuing that instead.

Sydney Bertman
Junior

Another excited player is junior Sydney Bertman, she is a setter and a right side hitter. Bertman started playing volleyball in 5th grade and has continued the sport because it makes her feel happy while playing. The best part about volleyball to Bertman is the fact that the sport is different compared to other sports mainly because it is very mental and emotional, which is part of the reason why she likes it. Also the binding on the volleyball team, they spend a lot of time with each other all summer and fall.

Bertman said that at this point in the season they have played good for the most part, but she knows that they have a lot of potential to be much better. The goal for the team this season is to play to their full potential in order to give them a great set up to make it to state, and get the banner! Bertman’s personal goals for the season is to become a more consistent player whether it’s hitting, serving, or defense. Bertman works hard in bringing more energy to the court because a huge part of volleyball is the energy, Bertman said it’s a real game changer. Right now Bertman doesn’t plan on playing volleyball outside of high school but seems to be undecided about many different things, who knows what’s to come.
