Book Review: Why We Broke Up

Book Review: Why We Broke Up

Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler is a young adult realistic fiction novel that follows a story told by the main character, Min.

Min is a teenaged girl writing to her ex-boyfriend, Ed. Min has recently broken up with Ed and the book is in the format of a letter in which she explains to Ed why.

A story many of us can relate to, Why We Broke Up is a brilliant representation of what happens after a girl meets a boy and they fall in love, even when they shouldn’t.

If you enjoy realistic fiction, romance, or are even ‘anti-romance’, this book appeals to a wide audience.

There are many illustrations throughout the book allowing it to appeal to even the most visual members of society.

This book scores five out of five stars on my scale. Because it is a real and raw story, beautifully written, it would be a crime to rate it any less.
