Rachel Suarez – February Kiwanis Student of the Month
Rachel Suarez, daughter of Christine and Luis Suarez, is one of February’s Kiwanis Students of the Month. Rachel has a 3.9 GPA and her three favorite classes are Dynamic Web Design, Intermediate Web Design and any and all literature classes. Suarez likes these classes because she has future aspirations to design websites and just loves to write – and she’s good at it too.
Over the years, Rachel has been involved in speech, drama and jazz choir. Speech has taught her that even the most insignificant seeming pieces matter, drama has taught her “to be loud, proud, and wowed,” and jazz choir has taught her that the show must always go on. Suarez volunteers at Meals from the Heartland and this summer, helped teach kids JavaScript – a computer programming system.
Rachel plans on attending DMACC and get an associates degree in web design, and possibly transfering to ISU to get a computer science degree.
Rachel’s advice to others is, “Always care. You can’t stop or slow down because it makes it more work. Just always care because apathy is stupid.”
Suarez believes she was honored with being a Kiwanis Student of the Month because she always works hard and typically gives her best work.
In recognition of Rachel’s achievements, Kiwanis has donated $50 to the ADM Scholarship Foundation.
