A Send-Off to the Wii U

With Nintendo’s new console, the Nintendo Switch, coming out in March, it’s about time to say a fond farewell to the Wii U.  With a short life cycle of just under 4½ years, it is already standing aside for the next console, the Switch (to read reasons to be excited for the switch, read my article HERE). Even though its life was short, it will leave us with many fond memories and many happy moments. With its gamepad, it brought joy to those who wanted to play Mario when the family was watching sports with offline play. This same gamepad allowed people to create brilliant levels and fiendish torture chambers in Super Mario Maker. It let 8 friends all duke it out at the same time in Super Smash Brothers. It took us high in the skies above the hostile yet beautiful planet Mira in Xenoblade chronicles X. It introduced us to the fun loving Inklings in Splatoon, the new IP that breath fresh life into Nintendo’s library. It brought back and breathed new life into The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. In Hyrule Warriors, it let you cut through hordes of enemies like they were grass. The amiibo it convinced you to buy proved you are never too old to buy toys. All these memories and more will stick with those who played on this console and forever in the hearts of the gaming community.
