Tigers Blast the Comets out of Adel

On Tuesday December 13 the Tigers (1-2) took on the North Polk Comets (0-6). The Tigers were coming off of a shocking loss after last Friday’s loss to Winterset. The Tigers needed a boost and North Polk was a game that should give the Tigers the start they needed.

During the start of the game the Tigers struggled from all over the floor. Tajen Ross started off cold and without one of their key starters, Matthew Larson, it looked like it was going to be a rough night for ADM. Turnovers, bad shots, missed free throws, all led to a disappointing first quarter.  Second quarter action started to heat up. All of the Tigers started playing their role. Cole Knoll came up big defensively all throughout the game, with lots of rebounds and a couple of blocks, which really kept the Tigers one step ahead of the Comets all night. Payton Conrad dropped dimes all over the court, which was no surprise as he has been doing that all throughout the year. The first half came to an end, but not before a big rally by Jared Sapp who finally started to get hot for the Tigers,  with a score that put the Tigers on top 39-22.

The second half of game was all Tigers. Tajen Ross had a monster third quarter posterized two different North Polk players. The Tigers have played four games the season and opposing players still think it’s a good idea to jump on him (as a first hand witness, I can say this is not a good idea).  The best play of the night wasn’t even one of the dunks, it was the flashy passing by Payton Conrad behind the back to find Ross wide open in the corner to score 3 of his total 27 points. Most of the starters sat the whole fourth quarter as the Tigers were already up 29 going into it. The Tigers ended the game with a well needed win, 68-31.

The Tigers even up their record 2-2 and travel to Perry to take on a struggling Blue Jays team. Looking to get above .500 in conference action, it will be a big game for the Tigers to keep the rally going.
