Dinner and a show, what a lovely evening. The Ingersoll has reopened after 11 years of being a sad and dark sight in the heart of downtown Des Moines’.
Originally built and opened in 1939 and quickly became the spot to be. This movie house had a nice family-friendly environment and played first-run films for all its guests. Later in 1979 the theater reopened as a dinner theater hosting musicals, tribute performances, and comedies. The Ingersoll dinner theater was a hit, up until 2004. Once again the theater shifted to something new, this time the Ingersoll became a night club catering towards night life in the streets of downtown Des Moines’. After that 2014 came and the theater closed, it remained silent, dark and cold for eight long years. In 2022 Conner Delaney had a vision, he wanted to bring the Ingersoll back to dinner theater style just how he remembered in his childhood. After three years of bringing the theater back to life the Ingersoll reopened in December of 2025.
A variety of shows is offered at the Ingersoll from comedies to musicals, there’s a show for everyone. The purchase of your ticket isn’t just for the show though, included is a warm bread basket with butter, a side salad, an entree and a beverage of water, tea or coffee.
