In the story of “The Road”, the author gives a really good description of an apocalypse and what toll it can take on the people who are trying to survive that event. The book explores the ideas of morality and ethics. In the world that the Father and the Son live in an apocalyptic, and life as the Father and the Son know it is gone.
The Summary
The story follows a Father and a Son who are trying to go to a hotter place so that they do not freeze to death in their current location. During that, they have to engage in a journey that is not safe for either of them, but it is either that or they die because of starvation.
The Road takes the themes of morality and ethics to show the world how humankind would be if the world as we know it were to end, and they would have to fend for themselves. In the book the Father has to make tough choices between his son or his morals. To survive in the world they have to steal, fight, and kill others. This really shows that the father and the son have to steal and harm others in order to survive in the world that they live in.
My rating of the book is 3 out of 5. This book does not have chapters, so you do not know when the scene changes. This aspect of the book makes it hard to understand and read. I really like the themes and how they show them. It gives the reader a better understanding of how humankind would react.
The characters in the book do not have names, so you can sometimes lack the connection with the book because of it. The part of the book that I enjoyed the most was how fast-paced it was. They had many different scenarios that the characters went through, and it gave more insight into the morals that the book was trying to portray.
The book has a interesting flow to it which is different than any other book. It is quite refreshing to read, it gives the reader a new point to think about before the old point is completely done. This makes it a pleasant engaging read.
This book really makes you think if the characters in the book are doing the things right or not. They test your morals and instincts when you are reading the book. The book has a lot of twists this makes the book a amazing read.
This book, overall, is a good enough book to read. This book is more on the side of ethics, and there is a lot that you can learn about human nature from this book. The readers that like mystery and survival will like this book.
