Senior assassin has become an emerging phenomenon in many schools. It’s a game that requires precision, attention to detail, planning… a water gun, some floaties, and a pair of goggles.
The ADM senior class came together to play the game Senior Assassin this year. The game was organized by senior, Brady Gustafson, and to play the game he chose to use the app “Splashin” which was designed to easily set up senior assassin games.
“I saw Northwest was using the app “Splashin” Northwest Waukee. So I kind of changed some of the rules they had already and twisted some to adapt to our school. It worked pretty good.”
Senior Assassin is a game where you sign up, and are assigned a target that you need to “shoot” with a water gun in a certain time period. Each person paid $7 to be admitted into the game, and the winner of senior assassin will get to keep the pot.
The game is set up with different time periods or rounds. The first round lasted five days and required all 47 players to attempt to shoot their target before Sunday April 6th at 5pm. After the first round was done anyone who had not gotten their target was out, along with those who had been shot by their targets.
There are certain rules that keep the game under control, including safe zones such as school grounds from 7:30am to 4:30pm, churches, entering houses without permission, sports practices, and shooting targets while they are at work. Any time a person has floaties on their arms, or goggles on their head they are safe from being out if they are shot.
During certain periods there will be a “purge” where all rules (except churches) go out the window. Any player can shoot another player, regardless of who their target is. School is not a safe zone, players can still be shot during work, and floaties and goggles do not protect anyone from being out,
“A few of my friends told me I should start a senior assassin game at ADM. I knew I was going to be morally acceptable for the job and so I I took it and ran with it.”
Brady’s Advice for future senior assassin players is ” be aggressive. Think creatively to get your target out and commit to winning.”
Brady’s prediction for the winner of senior assassin is his first round target, Cade Fisher.
