Movie Review: Migration

Newly released, Migration, hit theaters on December 22nd. Rated PG, Migration is a funny, heart-warming family movie. It mainly targets younger kids but does have some adult jokes snuck in, making it a great movie to watch as a family.

Migration follows the storyline of the Mallard family, Pam (mother), Mack (father), Dax (son/brother), and Gwen (daughter/sister). The Mallard family has been stuck in the safety net of their New England pond for years so what happens when a new flock of birds who are in the process of migrating to Jamaica push the family outside their comfort zone?

We quickly learn that Pam is a very adventurous and laid-back mother, while Mack is a very overbearing, overprotective, paranoid father. Although Dax and Gwen know that Mack is just looking out for their well being they also feel restricted. When a new flock of birds visits the pond the Mallards call home on their way to Jamaica for the winter, Dax can’t control his eagerness to find out more. Dax quickly swims over to the flock before Mack notices and gets himself and his family invited to migrate with the flock. Mack being the dad, immediately says no out of fear of the unknown. After some heavy convincing and even some guilt tripping Pam and the kids convince Mack to embark on a journey to Jamaica; however, they end up getting more than they bargained for.

Migration is a great funny action-packed, adventurous movie. With a heartwarming story, some twists and turns, and some humorous jokes packed in, Migration makes a great family night film. You can still find Migration in theaters, and will soon be able to find it on Netflix, Prime Video, and Hulu.
