Delaney’s Top Picks for February

  • NYX Bare With Me Concealer

Listen, I’m strictly a Glossier girl when it comes to concealer or foundation because I just don’t like the look of too much. Heavier products make my face feel weighted down, textured and uncomfortable throughout the day. But when I “hit pan” on my favorite Stretch Concealer by Glossier, I decided spending $20 for a new one was way too much for me. I began researching on TikTok some of the best concealers for dry skin, light coverage and in my price range. I landed on NYX Bare With Me, and it was definitely worth it. It was $9 on Amazon and had a decent shade range. My usual concealer is definitely more of a cream consistency, but I have learned to love liquid concealer through Bare With Me.

  • Jolly Rancher popsicles

I have firm reason to believe that Hy-Vee only keeps these popsicles in stock because of the high demand my house puts in for our groceries every week. I am in love with these popsicles, and I actually tried them by accident. My mom is a strict Aisles Online consumer with Hy-Vee and these came in as a substitute for another brand of popsicles I tried to order. But let me tell you, the universe was on my side when I received these instead. They taste exactly like the Jolly Rancher hard candies. I wholeheartedly recommend you get your hands on these.

  • L’ange Sea Salt Spray

My hair texture has never been super voluminous and thick, but when I use L’ange Sea Salt Spray I can pretend for just a couple of hours that it is. I love spraying it on my towel-dried hair right out of the shower and watching my hair get slight beach waves throughout the day as it dries. This will only work if your hair has a natural wavy texture, but the spray is great for any hair regardless.

  • Tasman Uggs

These Uggs are by far one of my favorite things I own. These slippers are incredibly hard to get your hands on right now, and I know exactly why: they’re perfect. They go with leggings, jeans or sweatpants and offer a dressed-up look to the dressed-down trend buzzing around right now. One thing I would caution you on is the fact that the fur inside the shoe mats down over time and stretches the slipper about half to a full size. For example, if you’re just barely an 8, I recommend getting a 7. Run, don’t walk, to the Ugg website to purchase these slippers for $100 plus tax.

  • Scooters Strawberry Acai Quencher with lemonade

This new establishment in Adel has made its way into my weekend routine. Most Saturdays before I go to work I stop by and grab a refresher from Scooters. It is about the same price as Starbucks and is generally the same drink. The best perk about it is that it is close and convenient.

  • Glossier You perfume

This perfume smells amazing. The notes on this perfume are Pink Pepper, Iris, Ambrette Seeds, and Ambrox. If those words mean nothing to you (much like they didn’t to me), I would describe this perfume as splashes of sparkling citrus mixed with floral and woodsy undertones. When people ask me what perfume I’m wearing I am always ecstatic to say Glossier You.

  • Jonah Hill movies

The obsession started with 21 Jump Street, moved on to Superbad and blossomed further from there. I recently watched his new movie on Netflix called You People and could not stop laughing. Hill’s comedic timing is unbeatable and I always love the people he is cast with.

  • Bath and Body Works Candles

I have never really been a candle person until recently. The scent Lakeside Morning is my current favorite to light whenever I feel my room needs a quick refresh. The three-wick feature that most Bath and Body Works candles have also allows it to burn brighter, but also longer. Watch out for their annual Candle Day sale.

  • Target

Most Thursday nights I find myself lost in the never-ending aisles of Target with a good friend by my side and a Starbucks drink clutched in my hand. I call it a form of therapy, really. It’s nice to have traditions that you can look forward to every week, and it’s also a good practice to control impulse buying. When I go to Target I give myself a minimal budget or a budget of $0. It helps me practice self-control and saving my money instead of buying things I don’t need.

  • Pineapple Tree Hut Sugar Scrub

This smells so good. It’s my current favorite item in my shower, and I’m not even the biggest fan of all things pineapple. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and exfoliated, but I also end up smelling pineapples for hours after I use it. Either this scent, Morrocan Rose or Exotic Bloom are my absolute favorites.
