One of February’s Teachers of the Month is Mackenzie Gettler. She’s been teaching for 10 years. Five of those years have been spent teaching agricultural sciences here at ADM.
Max Weesner nominated her for two reasons, both of which gave Gettler a chuckle. Gettler said there was a mess up with the printing of the names and she said, “I don’t have any of these students in class and don’t really know who actually nominated me.” She believes she was nominated because of “the amount and time that I commit to FFA and how I make classes enjoyable.”
Gettler became a teacher because she loves working with students and kids, and especially became an agricultural teacher because of the importance of ag and all that it provides like food, water, shelter, clothes and much more. She loves teaching students about farming and how to plant crops, run and control businesses and helps students develop a future in a career within agriculture.
Being Teacher of the Month, Gettler said: ” It’s always nice to see kids share positive things about me and is a great reward for working so hard.”
