Howard: Everyone’s Story Matters
Journalism has always been favorite part of school. When I was feeling down, happy, or anything in between, I turned to writing. But this year, my senior year of high school, it has become more of a lifestyle then a subject in school.
I have learned that through journalism I am not being graded on how well I can memorize formulas, but I am being graded on being myself and my own opinion. I find who I am as a person through my writing and I think this is the most important aspect I have learned through high school, to be myself.
I have learned how to be a kind, and understanding to everyone.
I learned this by speaking to many different people from different social groups. I learned that I can relate to each and everyone no matter how different we may seem from each other. I learned how to be more understanding with people and their stories, and that everyone’s story matters.
Journalism is taking stories from real-life situations and learning how to tell the story to the best of your ability. This is what journalism has taught me.
