Book Review: The Girl on the Train
The Girl on the Train
Author: Paula Hawkins
Rachel Watkins rides the train every morning to work and back home in the evening. On one of the stops, she watches a couple, who live just a few houses down from where she used to live. Rachel has imagined the life that this couple lives and she names them Jason and Jess. She sees them laughing and sitting on the porch together. She wishes she could be as happy as the couple a hundred feet from her glass window that separates them. Then one night, “Jess” goes missing, and Rachel thinks she knows something about it.
Rachel is an alcoholic who is desperate for belonging and happiness. The night “Jess” goes missing was a blur to her. She finds out the couples’ real names by a newspaper article. The man’s name is Scott and his wife is Megan. All fingers are pointed at Scott or Megan’s secret “lover,” until Rachel confesses what she really saw that night.
If you are looking for a great read with suspense and lots of action, this is a book to check out!
