Teacher Feature: Get to Know Gettler
Due to the recent retirement of several ADM faculty members, there has been a convergence of new teachers instructing students in the classroom. One of these new faces is McKenzie Gettler, the environmental science teacher. She’s also heavily involved with the FFA chapter and agricultural program.
She lives southeast of Casey with her husband on an acreage with their dogs, horses and chickens. When she’s not teaching, you can find her showing horses, teaching riding lessons and gardening.
She’s been teaching for six years and spent five at Orient-Macksburg High School. She loves the Agriculture program at ADM and the fact that teenagers are interested in being a part of it. They’ve been able to go to several contests to judge livestock and soil.
She enjoyed her own high school experience, and she was involved in volleyball, basketball, track, golf, softball, dance and choir. She went to West Central Valley and was involved with the FFA program there as well.
“I loved high school, that’s why I’m a high school teacher,” she said.
It’s clear that she not only teaches Ag, but lives it in her daily life.
