New T-Swift: Review of ‘Reputation’ Album
Long gone are the days of the innocent, country, “You Belong With Me” Taylor Swift. Gone are the songs about young teenage love or turning 22. Now, at 27 years old, Taylor is on a mission to change her reputation. Hence the name of her newly released album, Reputation.
The songs from this album are very different than anything Swift has released before. There is no trace of her country roots, and the songs sound more techno or like today’s pop. With titles like, “I Did Something Bad,” “Don’t Blame Me,” and “Call it What You Want,” Swift establishes that she is no longer the innocent girl from Fearless or Speak Now. From these songs, it is clear that Swift wants to be known as a “bad girl” or even a bit corrupt. It reminds us of one of our other favorite young celebrities: Miley Cyrus.
So does Swift’s new album live up to her other legendary releases? I would recommend giving it a listen.
Like all albums, though, some songs are better than others. The reviews of her previously released singles like, “Look What You Made Me Do,” and “…Ready For It?” were not the best. People were unsatisfied with Swift’s new sound and her change in pace. The rest of the album, though, does not follow in line with these few songs. The rest of the songs are different and easier to listen to than the singles.
Taylor Swift has changed her ways. Her singles released in previous weeks are not a good representation of the rest of the album. Listening to Swift’s new album is not a waste of time in my opinion, although, to listen to the full album it must be purchased in total on iTunes.
