ADM Terrorized With Bomb Threat
Friday the 13th decided to show up one week early here at ADM. The morning before school, a teacher found a note written on a traffic cone hinting that there was a hidden bomb. The administration decided it was best to close the high school and middle school for the day, not taking any chances to put the students in any danger.
My Experience
That morning I had an early practice and was going to the locker rooms when I saw a few teachers standing in front of the doors leading to the high school Commons. Before I could turn around and enter the locker rooms, the teachers told me to get into the Commons right then.
I was then ushered into the room, still smelly and sweaty from practice, and now became very confused. All doors were shut and every teacher in the room had a serious and nervous expression across their face. That’s when things started to click, and people started to get anxious. It didn’t matter who we asked, either no one knew what was going on or no one would say what was happening.
Mr. Griebel announced over the speaker system to follow the evacuation plan and then we were all led outside, into the rain and onto the muddy practice field. Slowly we all started to hear mumbles and rumors, and then the truth finally surfaced. Someone had threatened ADM with a bomb.
I, myself, started receiving call after call and I began telling people not to come to school. Everyone was scrambling everywhere trying to find their friends or their family members. Mr. Griebel then told us school was going to be cancelled due to the unfortunate circumstances and that we needed to sign out so they knew we had left and were safe.
Where We Are Now
The Adel and Waukee Fire Department searched the school thoroughly and found no evidence of explosive material. According to KCCI, the Adel police said, “The threat is considered an act of terrorism. Evidence has been sent to the state crime lab for processing.”
If anyone has any information leading to who left the note, please contact ADM High School or the Adel Police Department. You can report anonymously and any bit of information can help.
