Recently, there has been a lot of attention directed at a specific opinion piece written by a member of our staff because of the way it may portray the administration of ADM school district. This story, “Too Scared To Learn,” has been temporarily retracted from the library of published articles on our site, because the typical process a piece goes through was neglected and we want every piece to follow the same steps toward publication. It is not deleted. However, it will undergo attention and possible revision before its author makes the final decision to publish or to not publish once again.

In any situation where an article is in the position that “Too Scared To Learn” was in, it will not necessarily be taken off of the site with no further information. Our news staff is familiar with the Iowa High School Press Laws and know their rights as student journalists in Iowa. These documents give the right to publish their opinions in opinion pieces as long as it does not harm learning environments for students, and this has not been the case.

Rest assured, there will remain justice and rightfulness in our newsroom.
