McCartney and West Head to Next Level
Sam McCartney and Jacob West have played football since the 3rd grade. On February 3, the two seniors signed letters of intent to continue their football careers at a collegiate level.
After considering Truman State, Upper Iowa, and Wartburg, McCartney signed with Coe College in Cedar Rapids and has plans to study mathematics. “They were really good at football last year and they had some seniors leave. It seems like the right fit.” After playing quarterback at ADM, McCartney said, “I’m going to go to wide receiver and hopefully I can play some kick returner, punt returner too.”
West signed to play wide receiver for the South Dakota School of Mines’ football team in Rapid City, South Dakota. He will study mechanical engineering. “I really like their football program and coaching staff and their facilities, so I just thought it was a good fit for me,” said West about his future home. Before committing, West looked into other colleges including Missouri S&T and Colorado School of Mines.
