Book Review: A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms
Moving away from movies this week, I decided to take some time over the Thanksgiving break to read George R.R. Martin’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. While it is set in the same universe as A Song of Ice and Fire, it is set over a century before the events of A Game of Thrones. The book itself is three novellas, following a hedge knight called Sir Duncan The Tall and his Squire, Egg.
While it is set in the same universe as a Song of Ice and Fire, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a less gritty, violent kind of story, with few events of action, more focusing on world building and telling Duncan’s story. While it is very interesting to see the world through the view of a hedge knight, instead of a lord or lady as in A Song of Ice and Fire, I feel as though it is lacking in many of the political struggles that A Song of Ice and Fire had.
Overall, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a great book to read if you’re looking for that extra dose of Ice and Fire. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone who liked A ongS of Ice and Fire, but is stuck waiting for the next book. I rate A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms 8/10.
