The Lions Club of Adel hosted two ADM students last night at the American Legion building. Seniors Will Geadelmann and Hannah Borst presented speeches to the club in hopes of winning a $500 scholarship and the opportunity to represent the club at a district convention on November 12th.

Geadelmann chose a speech by Melvin Jones with the help of speech teacher Jacque Seidl.

“This is a great opportunity for future students,” he said.

Borst chose Helen Keller’s 1925 Cedar Point Speech. She chose Keller’s speech because she recognized her name.

“Put yourself out there and get out of your comfort zone because then you can find great opportunities like I did,” she said.

Both students are expected to memorize their respective speeches and use vocals/non-vocals learned in class to personify their speaker.
