The senior presentation is a formal presentation done during spring conferences each year for the seniors. This presentation that seniors give to their advisers and parents is a requirement at ADM for all students to graduate.
The presentation asks for each student to address three topics about their high school career. Personal Reflection, Universal Constructs, and Post-secondary plans all make up the slideshow.
The personal reflection section of the presentation shows the growth of the student over the four years of high school. This section asks how the student has grown in many aspects, including academically, socially, and personally. Not only does this section ask about growth, but it also asks the student to think back upon important moments and hurdles in their high school experience.
“ It was nice seeing how I’ve grown throughout the years, like different activities that I’ve done and just how I’ve grown with my education and where I want to go for my future,” said Ryland Moss, a senior of the graduating class of 2025.
Another section of the presentation is the universal constructs. Each universal construct that was written throughout the four years is used in this section. This is a large section because of the many artifacts, along with the artifacts there is also a connection between each of them.
“It was the most effort I had to put into it, with like going over my universal constructs and seeing how I’ve like grown and improved and changed through them throughout the four years of high school,” Moss said.
The final section of the presentation is the post-secondary. This section is used to show parents that the student has a plan for after high school. It sets up students with goals for the future, both long-term and short-term, and asks how the student will achieve them.
“ I would say it [Post-secondary section] was my favorite just ’cause it’s fun to think about and like dream about where you wanna be and like what your goals are… it was really cool to talk about what I’m looking forward to in the future,” Ella Goodrich said.
The senior presentation is good not only for parents and advisers but also the students. It is a way for students to think back on themselves and high school. Students are able to look at their achievements in academics, activities, and their general lives.
“ I would say putting it [creating the slideshow] together was pretty easy, but presenting it was just, it felt really full circle to like, just get a talk about it and explain and just talk about yourself and explain it to people,” Goodrich said.
The presentation is used to show the greatness that each student has achieved over their academic career, and is not just busy work for seniors. It is one final presentation for seniors to look back at their high school experience at ADM.
