There are many changes coming to the ELA courses at ADM, most of which are affecting the 11th and 12th grades. Some classes with no longer be offered, however, many more new courses will be taking their place. Nine new courses will be offered by the ELA teachers, who are excited to be teaching these classes.
English III, English IV, and freshman combo courses will no longer be taught at ADM. These courses will be replaced with the option for students to take more electives. The electives will include American Literature, British Literature, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Mythology, Drama as Literature, and World Literature.
The freshman combo course will be split and an honors English I will be offered for students looking for a more advanced class.
The English III course will be split and will have one required class and one elective. Juniors will be required to take composition, which will be a semester-long course. Juniors will be able to pick one of the offered electives to fill the remainder of the requirements.
While AP Lit & Comp and AP Lang & Comp will still be offered courses, anyone planning on taking English IV will instead be given a similar option to English III. A choice of elective will still be required for part of the year. However, instead of taking composition, seniors will be required to take a semester of speech. Speech will be offered as a class at ADM but students will still be able to take DMACC Speech.
