Throughout the past 5 years, Ben Perman has been very involved throughout ADM Schools, much like other teachers. He teaches World History, AP World History, American History, and Sociology. Not only does he create student relationships through those classes, but also student-athlete relationships through the sports he coaches.
“It is fun to see all the work the kids put in and see how they grow as an athlete,” said Perman.
He has coached 7th grade girls basketball, 7th grade boys basketball, 8th grade baseball, 8th grade football, and 9th grade football. Many of his middle school players he coached over the years now have him as a teacher in high school.
“He was a great coach, you could tell that he cared about our team,” Bella Spreaker said, a current student of Mr. Perman’s and former athlete of his.
Leading up to his involvement in athletics at ADM, he enjoyed participating in sports himself growing up. “I liked the competition aspect and I liked spending time with teammates and getting to know them,” he said. “I made lifelong friends through playing sports.”
“I had Mr. Perman as a coach in 8th grade for baseball and as a freshman for football. He was pretty fun because he wasn’t super strict but he was a great coach,” said Tyler Kniep. “He is young so he knows a lot about us and can [relate] to us. This year he is my AP World teacher and in school he is also laid back. The class is fairly easy and he makes it fun.”
