The end of the semester is steadily approaching and with that comes saying goodbye to the ten seniors who plan to graduate at semester this year. These seniors have worked to get all the credits and hours they need to graduate in only 4 months, instead of the normal 9. They seem to be both excited and nervous to say goodbye. As they prepare for their departure, turn in finals, empty lockers, and say their goodbyes, here are their thoughts.
Mia Lebanz says that she would rather work than stay in school. She says “I plan to work and save money before I go to college.” After graduating Lebanz says “I’m going to take a gap year and work two jobs, then I plan to go to ASU because I work at Starbucks and they are paying for me to go there.” The Starbucks College Achievement Plan creates an opportunity for eligible U.S. Starbucks partners (employees) to earn their bachelor’s degree online at Arizona State University with 100% upfront tuition coverage. Partners can choose from 150+ undergraduate degree programs through ASU Online.
Dominic James says “I chose to graduate this semester because I’m trying to take a gap year. During that year, I plan to work towards upper management in my job and get a management degree at DMACC once I have more money saved.”
James says “The pros of graduating early for me were getting out of here early. The cons of graduating early are that I don’t get to see all the people and teachers I have made memories with.”
Hallie Pratt states that she “Chose to graduate early because I would like to focus on making more money to go to college earlier.”
“A con to graduating early is that I had to do everything like my senior hours in half the amount of time that everyone else did,” says Pratt.
Pratt plans to go to Iowa State to get her bachelor’s degree in psychology and plans to transfer out of state to obtain her master’s degree.
As the semester ends the seniors prepare to move on to the next phases of their lives. Their time here has come to a close, and they leave with their experiences and lessons gathered. While they embark on new journeys, ready to create new memories. Seniors will be done with high school around January 10th and will be off into the real world to pursue their careers.
