On December 8, nine students at ADM were inducted into the International Thespian Society. The International Thespian Society is a leadership program for theatre, similar to Quill and Scroll for Journalism or National Honor Society. It recognizes those who go above and beyond and are exceptional in their school’s theatre program. The induction process to get into the International Thespian Society is points-based and depends on the amount of productions you’ve been involved in, and what role you held. Once you get to 100 points, you can be inducted. Members of the Thespians Society have many different duties, including helping out with the 8th-grade play, marketing, and decision-making about the high school play and musical.
The new members of the International Thespian Society are officially inducted during an induction ceremony. Thespian members can choose a new inductee to induct during the ceremony. The inductees go onstage with the person who inducted them and read off their contributions to the theater department. Then each thespian member takes turns sharing a little bit about what the International Thespian Society is, and how it started.
Thespian Noelle McDonald shares, “We also light candles and the new inductees sign a scroll that has every name on it since 2007 when Mrs. Longman opened the thespians troupe at ADM.”
McDonald was inducted into the International Thespian Society in May of 2024 and has been serving ever since. She had the honor of inducting Noah Evans this year. Thespians have many fun traditions in their society. One that McDonald shared was that during the induction, the inductors get to pick out a fun costume out of their costume closet and the inductees wear it during the ceremony.
The nine members that were inducted this December are: sophomores McKinley Cornwell, Laura Reiste, and Caleb Klassen. The juniors are, Noah Evans, Bridget Ackelson, Lily Benham. The seniors are Mason Willms, Brody Hunt, and Isaac Hatchitt. The Thespians meet every Tuesday during Power Hour with Mrs. Longman.
