The ADM Girls Volleyball is currently ranked eighth in the state and was the champion of their conference. They went undefeated in their conference this year, including games against Carroll, Dallas Center-Grimes, and Winterset. They hope to continue this into post-season play.
Assistant Coach, Charity Miller, “The season has gone really well. We worked really hard to get into the top ten rankings, and the girls have been playing really well together, and at a really high competitive level.”
One component the coaches and players believe has led to such a successful season is watching a lot of film. Coach Irwin has also spent a lot of time analyzing opponents’ performances to help the team develop strategies.
The team dynamic has been especially good this season as well. Coach Miller comments, “The girls have great team chemistry.” They spend a lot of time together both inside and outside of practice. Outside of practice, they engage in a lot of team bonding to help bring them closer as a team, like going out to eat and getting ready for their games together.
Coach Miller also said, “This group had role models from our group last year and they have really grasped onto that leadership role that they had last year as an example and have done a good job this year.” Ellsyn Livingston also says that as a freshman on varsity, she felt very welcomed by the team, despite the age gap. The team consists of four seniors, five juniors, and two freshmen. Also, this can sometimes be a bit awkward, but this is not a problem for these girls. Coach Miller, “We have a lot of laughs together, so it’s been a fantastic season!”
