On the week of September 23-28. Crumbl celebrated its birthday. Founded by cousins Sawyer Hemsley and Jason McGowan in 2017. The first Crumbl cookie to even be sold for the franchise was the milk chocolate chip cookie, and although this flavor is traditional and simple, it is a classic fan favorite. Crumbl’s first location to open was in Logan, Utah, and there are now over 1,000 Crumbl stores. Crumbl has locations in all 50 states, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Below are the six flavors Crumbl sold to spread the celebration, alongside our ratings, and opinions on them.
Birthday Cake ft. Oreo– 10/10, A thick cookie made with Oreo pieces, covered in cake batter cream cheese frosting and topped with more Oreo cookie pieces and rainbow sprinkles. We rated this cookie as a 10/10. It was rich, but not overpowering, and it had a nice crunch on the outside, while still being soft on the inside. The cream cheese frosting helped balance out the rich chocolate, and the sprinkles on top added a nice pop of color to the visual appearance.
Peanut Butter ft. Snickers– 8.5/10, A peanut butter cookie, studded with chopped Snickers topped with caramel buttercream, a sprinkle of delicious Snickers pieces, and a smooth milk chocolate drizzle. This cookie tasted like a peanut butter lover’s heaven, however, if peanut butter is not one of your favorites, the flavor might have been a little much.
Confetti Cake– 8/10, Two fluffy layers of cake batter confetti cake generously layered with smooth vanilla buttercream and crowned with a dash of vibrant, rainbow sprinkles. We rated this dessert an 8/10. The reason we took off some points was because, while this was a delectable treat, it was not a cookie. However, the cake itself was moist, yet fluffy. The vanilla buttercream wasn’t too sweet, but it still added a sugary flavor that tied it all together.
Caramel Shortbread ft. Twix– 6/10, A chilled, shortbread-inspired cookie filled with Twix pieces, then topped with a gooey layer of caramel, chilled milk chocolate, and a crunchy top layer of Twix garnish. We rated this cookie a 6/10. Out of all the other cookies this week, it was somewhat of a disappointment. We had expected more, but truthfully it just tasted like a refrigerated Twix bar. However, after the cookie had sat out in the warmth for a while, the chocolate and caramel began to melt. We tried it again, but now as a warm cookie, and we honestly thought it was better this way.
The Original Pink Sugar– 7.5/10, The OG Crumbl recipe is back. An almond sugar cookie topped with the perfect pink swoop of real almond frosting. We rated this cookie a 7.5/10 because it is generally good but tasted like flour. On past occasions when we have had this cookie we considered it to be a fan favorite, however this time it seemed dry and unflavored. The pink frosting was the best part; it was sweet, and we would’ve been willing to eat a spoonful of it.
Milk Chocolate Chip– 9/10, a very good original, chocolate is gooey and warm, classic, thick, soft, and packed with milk chocolate chips. This is a very good classic cookie. It hits the spot every time but compared to the delectable and unique lineup this week we gave it a 9/10. This cookie is immaculate especially when warm.
Overall we rated this lineup an 8/10 because it was a great taste of fall flavors to start off the fall season. We did agree that we were slightly disappointed with a few of the flavors but they were still delicious.
