Aniston Tollari hands the baton off to Madi James during their 4×400 relay at the Girl’s State meet.

Madi James is ADM’s May Girls Track Athlete of the Month. James is a junior and the daughter of Todd and Pam James. She has been running track since her 8th-grade season. She primarily competes in the 4×800 relay, 400 hurdles, and the 4×400 relay.

James’ favorite aspect of track is the relationships she’s built over the years. James said, “There’s a lot of girls that go out for this sport, so it’s a great way to make connections with a lot of different people…underclassmen, people from other schools, and people from our own school that you may not talk to very often.” She loves the way track brings all these people together to form a family bond.

James said being recognized as Track Athlete of the Month is a really good feeling and it’s nice to be recognized by her teammates and coaches for the hard work she has put in and the work she has done to help and grow the program. Throughout all the hard workouts and races, James remains a positive and encouraging face for her teammates to turn to throughout the season. She said if anyone is not already out for a spring sport pick up track because the team has a lot of fun throughout the season and it’s really rewarding at the end of the day.

In recognition of her achievements, Adel Rotary Club will donate $100 to the ADM Scholarship Foundation.
