Anika Watt is ADM’s April Kiwanis Humanitarian Student of the Month. Watt is the daughter of Sean and Tracy Watt and is wrapping up her senior year at ADM High School. Watt plans to continue her academic career at Kansas University with the plans to major in Marketing.
Throughout high school, Watt has enjoyed various classes, starting with her favorite core subject, math. Watt recalls Algebra I as her favorite math class because of her love for the subject and the class’ overall atmosphere. Intro to Business and Intro to Housing and Textiles follow closely behind because both classes taught her valuable skills that she will use for many years to come. They were also entertaining, keeping her engaged in her learning.
She has volunteered all around the community, primarily through the school district and Meals for the Heartland. Over the last couple of years, the Humanitarian Cord program has taught Watt the importance of helping people and lending a hand towards bettering her community.
Watt is honored to be named Kiwanis Student of the Month as recognition for the years of dedication she has put into helping those around her. When asked for one piece of advice she would give to someone surrounding high school, Watt responded, “Take classes that you enjoy so you can enjoy your time here at ADM, and definitely don’t be scared to ask for help when you need it, there’s always someone that willing to help out.”
In recognition of her achievements, Kiwanis of Adel will donate $50 to the ADM Scholarship Foundation.
