Movie Review: American Sniper

In this 2015 blockbuster, Bradley Cooper plays the well known Navy SEAL sniper, Chris Kyle. The movie starts off with Kyle working to make a living as a Texas rodeo rider, however, not satisfied decides to join the military to serve his country. On his first deployment to Iraq, Kyle is flung into action right away. He has to make the decision about whether or not a young boy and his mother are working with the Taliban or are just innocent civilians caught in the crossfire of war. Throughout his tour, Kyle earns the reputation as one of the most accurate snipers to ever serve in the military and would later earn the nickname “Legend.” After Kyle’s first tour he goes home to his wife and immediately feels the effects the war has on him. Still, he is always ready to deploy back to Iraq to help defend his fellow soldiers and his country. In the tours to follow, Kyle solidifies his reputation as an elite marksman and in a way finds solace while off fighting. So when he comes back home for visits between tours he finds himself lost and disconnected from his wife and family and war becomes his only cure to get through his hard times. American Sniper is a film that will keep you clinging to your seats while you wait for what’s going to happen next. This film also helps you connect with what veterans and their families go through today and how war has an effect on everyone.
