2016 Journalism: Welcome to the club
Coming into journalism and learning how to write a proper news article as a freshman was no walk in the park, especially having it be my first year as a journalist and being surrounded by four sophomores, two juniors and four seniors. I had to learn the ropes pretty fast.
I joined the “Nerd” staff (which means newspaper nerds) because I did not have a lot of options for my schedule and I thought that this experience could improve my creative writing skills and after all of the grammar errors, misspelled words and punctuation errors, I think it did. I got to know what my peers really feel strongly about (if you ever visit our news site, you will certainly find a lot of opinion pieces).
I got to know a lot about myself as well. I learned that I love sports enough to put the school scores on our site and I feel very strong in what I believe in with my own opinion. It was an amazing experience in journalism and I will surely continue to be at journalism in the future.
