November’s Kiwanis Humanitarian Student of the Month is Lily Kruse. She is a senior this year and is the daughter of Doug Kruse and Tanya Stoolman.
With a 4.0 GPA, Kruse’s three favorite classes in high school are Band, Chemistry and Calculus. She enjoys band because of her love for music and her talent in those skills. She likes chemistry class because she finds it very interesting and plans to go into forensics after high school. Finally, she enjoys calculus because while the class is challenging, her peers make it fun. “The people make it better, we can struggle together.”
Kruse has learned lessons of being a leader and musical talent through her experiences in band, student counsel, speech, humanitarian cord, and LTC. As well as volunteering at the Joppa Homeless Center in Des Moines.
She plans to attend Arizona State in the fall with a major in Forensic Psychology and a minor in music. Kruse advises others to not stress too much in school because it is not the end of the world. “Just try your hardest.” Kruse said.
Kruse feels she has been honored because she has stayed consistent in her work with the community for 4 years.
In recognition of her achievements, Kiwanis Humanitarian SOM has donated $50 to the ADM Scholarship Foundation.
