As we approach the volleyball post-season, the Tigers are ready for a chance to play in state. They are currently ranked #3 by the Iowa High School Girls Athlete Union and will host the winner of Humboldt and Storm Lake. This game will be played on October 19th at 7 p.m. The last time the Tigers played in the state tournament was in 2005 when they made a run to the semifinals. They beat Harlen during the first round in 5 sets and lost to Algona in 4 sets during the semifinals. This year the Tigers move to 21-1 after a win against DCG and are 7-0 in the conference. They look to make a return to the state tournament after 18 years. While speaking with London Waumuth, an outside and middle hitter, she believes that this is the year for the team to make a run at state since they will lose five starters next year.
This season, the Tigers have had big wins against Bondurant, DCG, and Ballard. They will be playing Carrol for their last regular season home game and have a tournament in Knoxville on Saturday, October 14th. The state volleyball tournament is played at Xtreme Arena in Coralville, Iowa from Monday, October 30th through Thursday, November 2nd.
