This is the Month of October so that means the spooky season is here. I went around the school asking people their thoughts on October, or Halloween I should say. Before you read what other people think I’m going to tell you how I celebrate Halloween. All-hallows eve is a day that I hold close, it’s fun and imaginable from the things you see and the ideas that people come up with, but for me I celebrate by dressing up. I dress up because to me it’s just a day you can’t pass up. There is so much you can do in just one day from getting candy, haunted houses, and hanging out with friends or family. Halloween is a special day to me I could say it’s just always been a day that I have had the most fun and made the most memories. But what I say about it is just what I think about it, so I asked some people around the school what they do to celebrate Halloween.

Nathaniel Roschel, sophomore: What he does on Halloween is dress up and watch scary movies like the movies It, Halloween, and Michael Myers. To Roschel, Halloween is a fun day to spend with friends and family, dressing up and scaring people, as well as going to haunted houses. But since he has gotten older, he doesn’t go trick or treating anymore or as much but when he does, he still dresses up and it’s usually as a superhero or DC character. More or less he just likes the concept of Halloween and what it’s based on and how it has changed over the years.

Mrs. Seidl, the librarian: She helps and does the Haunted Hallways, so this is what she does for Halloween. She loves the idea that anyone can be who they want to be for one day without any say on what they want or who they want to be. Her son this year went different, he picked what he wants to be this year which was a zombie football player, and she enjoyed the moment with her son getting to see his face light up when looking at the makeup, but she’s also going to miss being able to pick the cute costumes for him. Since she has a son, they go trick and treating and go to a haunted house, but for her it’s a up and down for haunted houses. She loves it but doesn’t like the getting scared feeling but after that she’s in love with it again. Dressing up is something she does most of the time. If she does dress up, it’s for a party or group costumes with friends and family. Now that Halloween is over, she is already thinking about next year and is going to start early to have time to do the things she wants.

Melody Koons, Freshman: To her Halloween is iffy, It’s not that bad but it’s not really great. What she does for the most part is just chill. When she does do things it’s for the candy and haunted houses, but she does go trick or treating with her sister even though she is not a big fan of it. She does dress up and it has random things, this year she just happened to be riding her four wheel and just went with what she had on. She rather go to parties and hang out with friends and goes to haunted houses. To her overall, Halloween is great.

There are a lot of different ways people can celebrate, some being simpler than others. Like I said, I love Halloween and it’s one of the best times to spend with friends and family. It’s interesting to see how different people can celebrate: talking to a parent and student, having two different perspectives. For the most part it’s about dressing up, getting candy, and hanging out with the people you value most. It’s a day to be someone different.
