May Kiwanis Student of the Month: Rebecca Beaman

Senior, Rebecca Beaman, daughter of Christina Schalk and Charles Beaman, has been nominated for one of May’s Kiwanis Students of the Month. She has a 3.87 GPA her favorite high school classes are Ag production because it is integrated with FFA and it’s a different class duel enrollment with DMACC. She also enjoys news because it is a different environment for a class to be in, and enjoys athletic enhancement because it’s a class that is strength training and thinks it’s nice to have that integrated way to do weight lifting during the school day.

When asked what activities she is part of and what she has learned from them, Beaman says “FFA taught me a lot about business because it’s a part of a SAE project that I’ve integrated with it, NHS has lots of volunteering, volunteerism, and the Iowa honey producers association which has furthered honeybee production.” She volunteers at Meals from the Heartland, Headstart, her local church, and Life Serve. She is attending Northwest Missouri State to major in agronomy field in crop and soil science.

Her advice to others is “Meet your deadlines on time and try to work ahead if possible. Try to take very descriptive notes and be very tenacious about what you do in the classroom.”  She is honored to receive Kiwanis Student of the Month because it’s nice for her to be recognized for her years in high school. She believes she was nominated because of her progress from freshman year into senior year.

In honor of her achievements, Kiwanis of Adel has donated $50 to the ADM Scholarship Fund.
