April’s Kiwanis Student of the Month – Dustin Barker
Dustin Barker, son of Darryl and Toni Barker, is April’s Kiwanis Student of the Month. He has a GPA of 4.0 and is planning to attend South Dakota University majoring in commercial aviation. His favorite classes in high school are woodworking II, animal science, and statistics because he enjoys the hands-on nature of the course, along with the content and challenge that comes with them. Throughout high school, he has been involved in FFA which has provided him with opportunities such as Farm Business Management and Soils Judging. Through the FFA he has learned leadership skills and developed strong communication skills. He spends his time volunteering and participating in activities available through the FFA. Barker’s advice to others is to “focus on what is important and always strive to improve your communication skills.” Being Kiwanis Student of the Month demonstrates that people are recognizing his hard work in and out of the classroom.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Kiwanis of Adel has donated $50 to the ADM scholarship foundation.
