Deadpool review
DEADPOOL, it seems you can’t go anywhere anymore, without hearing about this comedic and bloody comic book movie. Set in the same universe as the X-men, and unfortunately the Fantastic 4. In the main role we have Ryan Reynolds, playing Wade Wilson aka Deadpool,a Canadian motor mouth, semi invincible assassin who may be mentally insane. His mission in life is to get revenge on the one man who deformed and tortured him to make him a mutant. That man being A-jax, played by Ed Skrein- sounds simple right?
Well Deadpool manages to bring laughs and creativity to such a simple concept, with fourth wall breaks, violence, and overall a good time. It is pretty much well known that this movie is a love letter to comic book fans of a mature age. Showing that “heroes” can be selfish, violent, inappropriate, and pretty much the exact opposite of Superman. The beginning of the film sets up the stage for a Quentin Tarantino/ Wes Anderson/ any good comedy kind of movie. No this isn’t high brow humor or a Tour Deforce as many would wish to describe it as, but it is clever with a lot of it’s meta humor and “inside jokes” fans of the comics will love. Surprisingly there is a lot of positive reviews, despite the current outrage of parents taking their children to see an R rated superhero movie…But hey, that is what the movie rating scale is for. Throw in some cameos from Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, played by Stefan Kapicic and Brianna Hildebrand, the whole cast is a treat and fits into their roles perfectly. Now Deadpool isn’t your average superhero movie, as stated before- it is rated R for very good reasons. Violence, language, nudity, drug innuendos, alcohol consumptions and a whole list of other offensive and unbelievable things will keep kids away from the theaters.
But if you want a good time with friends, or even a “romantic” date to have that extra bit of magic, go see Deadpool. I wish there was more I could describe to you without ruining the whole film, so what are you still doing reading this? Go watch Deadpool.
