Monica Thomas has been nominated as one of March’s Kiwanis Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Greg and Leanne Thomas. With an above 4.0 GPA, her favorite high school classes have been English 3, her open DMACC classes, and culinary arts. She has been in golf for 4 years, and it has taught her a lot of leadership and drive skills. It has also taught her mental toughness. Throughout high school, Thomas has also been in Mock Trial, Academic Decathalon, Student Council, and the National Honor Society. Her favorite place to Volunteer is the First T girls golf program, which helps get young girls into golf.

Next year, Thomas will be attending the University of Iowa and is majoring in Political science on the prelaw track. When asked about advice she has for other high school students, she said “You’re not going to want to do the work all the time, but you just have to do it anyway, and you’re going to feel a lot better after you do.” She says “Being Kiwanis student of the month means that I am being recognized for hard work.”

In honor of her achievements, Kiwanis of Adel has donated $50 to the ADM Scholarship fund.
