Valentines Day in different countries

“ The love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides” – David Viscott

February is known as the “Month of Love.” Everything started during the 3rd century in Rome. And when emperor Claudius II announced that single men made better soldiers than those with families and wives, he outlawed marriage for young soldiers.

Valentine went against this injustice being done to young men and started performing secret marriages for young lovers. When the emperor found out about Valentine’s actions, he ordered that the saint be put to death. The other tale suggests that the saint may have been killed while helping the Christians escape harsh Roman prisons, where they were tortured. Gradually, Saint Valentine became so popular that couples all across the world started celebrating Valentine’s Day as the day of love.

The Day of Love is celebrated all over the world and there are some weird traditions.

If you are single, and think that Valentine’s day is not for you, go to Estonia. in Estonia Valentine’s Day is called ‘Friends Day.’ People exchange cards and gifts among friends with a cheery ‘Happy Friends Day.’ Just what you want to hear from someone you’ve had your eye on for years.

If you want to marry but think that you can not afford it yet, the Philippines is a very good place to think about. In the Philippines, those who can’t afford their dream wedding jump at the chance to tie the knot on Valentine’s Day. Sponsored by the government, mass weddings take place across the country, with everything being provided for them, even the rings. Isn’t it amazing ?!

Are you single and want to know who is your future valentine? I have a very funny thing for you! Let’s do it! : Make a very salty little bread and eat before you go to bed. Do not drink water after doing that! Fill the glass with water and put it next to you. Armenian tradition says that, in your dream, someone will give you a glass of water, and whoever does, he is your future Valentine.

Let’s talk about American Valentine’s day now. In America, everyone celebrates this day differently. Every year couples have different plans and surprises for each other.

For example, Dylan Ingram is planning to take his girlfriend, Emma to Art class (painting) as a surprise.  He thinks she will like it !

Trying to make people happy, being full of surprises, just say if you love someone, hang out with friends! This is Valentine’s day!
