From the Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Proposal, to award-winning Super Bowl commercials for Snickers, Betty White was a woman of many trades. White’s legacy will be one of many firsts including the first woman to produce a national tv show; the first producer to hire a female director; first woman to star in a sitcom; first woman to receive an Emmy nomination; first woman to appear on television, due to her role in experimentation with broadcasting in the ’30s. White made sure to leave an impact on generations upon generations of people. Not only was White a trailblazer for women in the area of sitcoms, but she also was an outspoken advocate for animal welfare and push for the protection of endangered species. Sadly all great stories have to come to an end; she passed away in her home in California on new years eve at age 99,  just three weeks shy of her 100th birthday. In response to her passing, many celebrities took to Twitter, including president Joe Biden who wrote, “ Betty White brought a smile to the lips of generations of Americans. She’s a cultural icon who will be sorely missed.” Overall Betty White will be gravely missed but her life will leave an everlasting imprint on generations of millions.
